Indian Bride Customs

Indian marriages are big events. The average wife has 16 pieces of clothing and jewelry on, not to mention the indigo and another hair and makeup, all to appear stunning on the biggest time of her lifestyle. And the groom wears a sherwani suit and Mojari, a unique kind of footwear, as well as a hat adorned with plants to ward off evil spirits.

The events begin with a Friday wedding followed by a Saturday festival and greeting. The bride’s family members dance in traditional Bollywood fashion and serve meals, decoration, and festive dancing at the sangeet to wish the couple a successful new beginning together

Next up is the Baraat, a parade of the man and his friends and family to welcome him to the mandap( like an altar) where the wedding will take place. He is frequently carried in a chariot or on a horseback by his family, and he is decorated with flower garlands ( Milni Malas ) on his back.

During the ceremony, they’ll sphere the sacred fire four times to signify dharma, dharma, tantra and nirvana. Then they will take their seats, and the house will be ruled by whoever succeeds earliest it. The bridegroom performs seven vows to his bride while touching seven betel nuts, which are considered sacred in India, with her correct toe in a fun ritual known as Saptapadi. Finally, seven married girls from the couple’s aspect move by and whisper blessings into her hearing.
